About Us
We are followers of Jesus Christ, citizens of a heavenly kingdom, whose methods for achieving social outcomes are not of this world. Rather than using physical force to achieve social and moral goals, we eschew and denounce the violence and coercion so commonly relied upon and instead rely on soul force to achieve our desired ends. And these ends are nothing less than the Kingdom of Christ manifested on the earth, in which righteousness and justice are the foundation of the throne of the Son, who reigns over every tongue, tribe, and nation.
Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket,
and are accounted as the dust on the scales.
All the nations are as nothing before him,
they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness.
End Coercion exists to challenge the idols of empire, power, and domination that pervade society and are often masked as patriotism or even Christian duty. Rooted in a biblically-grounded, Christ-centered worldview, its mission is to call the church and society to repent from complicity in violence, coercion, and imperialism, especially the pervasive evils of abortion and taxation. By rejecting the false gods of state authority, taxation, and militarism, End Coercion promotes a radical, peaceful Kingdom where justice, freedom, and nonviolence are the hallmarks of true allegiance to Christ.
Principles
Nonviolent Resistance
The way of Christ is not the way of the sword; it is a laying down of one’s life, a willingness to suffer for the sake of others, and an entrusting of oneself to the judgement of God, knowing that he will avenge and repay all wrongdoing. Followers of Jesus must fight – not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual powers of darkness in the heavenly places. Please read 1 Peter 2:13-4:19 , Romans 12:14-21 , and Soul Force .
Nonconformity
Christians are called to not be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds to live holy lives, so that we may discern what the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God is. Please read Romans 12:1-13 , 1 Peter 1:13-21 , and Transformed Nonconformity .
Kingdom-Mindedness
Followers of Christ are transferred out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God’s beloved Son Jesus. We are exiles, aliens, foreigners to the kingdoms of this earth. Our citizenship is in heaven, and we pledge our faithfulness and fidelity to Jesus alone, the one to whom all authority in heaven and on earth has been given. The kingdom is like a grain of a mustard seed, which grows to become the largest tree in the garden. It is the little stone hewn by no human hand, that smashes the kingdoms of the powerful into pieces and grows to be a mountain that fills the entire earth. It is a people united by faith, as numerous as the stars in heaven or the grains of sand on the seashore. Please read 1 Peter 2:9-12
